Sauces require special treatment to ensure peak flavor and texture. This open saucier pan has the rounded sloping sides that will ensure you are able to thoroughly incorporate ingredients, without having solids get stuck in the bend where side meets base. The new MC2 cookware combines the industrial style of a brushed aluminum exterior with gleaming stainless steel stay cool handles.
The second generation of All-Clad's Master Chef line (MC2), this cookware combines brushed aluminum with stainless-steel accents for a contemporary look. Like All-Clad's other renowned cookware collections, Master Chef provides serious and professional cooks with all the virtues that make All-Clad's worldwide reputation unsurpassed. Key to its high performance is a three-ply, bonded construction. Sandwiched between the brushed aluminum exterior and an 18/10 stainless-steel interior lies a thick core of pure aluminum that spreads heat evenly across the bottoms of pots and pans and all the way up the sides. The interior is highly polished so it's stick- as well as corrosion-resistant. Handles, rivets, and tight-fitting lids are all gleaming stainless steel.
This versatile 1-quart saucier pan has rounded sides, which increase the amount of food it can hold relative to the diameter of its bottom. Because the aluminum core extends up the sides, foods cook uniformly, even though the pan is 2-1/4 inches deep. And because the interior is nonreactive, tomato-based sauces and other acidic foods won't taste metallic. Its polished 18/10 stainless-steel handle is riveted to the pan for strength, grooved on the top and rounded on the bottom for comfort, and holed in the end for hanging on a hook or peg. The long handle stays cool on the stovetop but won't be harmed by an oven's heat. Master Chef cookware carries a lifetime warranty against defects and should be hand washed. --Fred Brack

I got mine last week and I'm so happy I did. So far I've only used it to make creme brulee and hot cocoa for two and not only did it worked perfectly but cleaning it afterwards was a breeze. The first thing I did when I got the pan was to see if it tips over on my gas range and it does not, so I'm not sure if the other reviewers are commenting on the right model (MC2). The body of the pan is as sturdy as the handle and it's a beautiful piece. I'll be replacing most of my pots and pans to All-Clad eventually.

and that's all that counts! That, and the item appears very durable, with lifetime warranty.

I use this little pan for melting butter, toasting seeds, making sauces, making one mug of hot chocolate, and reheating meals (since I don't have a microwave). I did accidentally put it through the dishwasher once, however (not recommended by the manufacturer), and the pretty finish is now somewhat dulled.
The main pros are:
1) Nice, sturdy pan with a thick bottom as well as uniformly thick sides. Heats very evenly with no hot spots.
2) Very easy to clean. It's not nonstick but it cleans up beautifully with just soap and water.
3) Lovely design.
This pan also has a few flaws:
1) There is no lip, so pouring is quite messy. (This is a regular annoyance.)
2) The handle is heavy, and when the pan is not full it tips easily.
3) The sides are somewhat low, as another reviewer mentioned. I think this pan would work better as a 1.5 quart pan.
4) Doesn't come with a lid, which is useful when reheating meals.

We've been very happy with this pan except for one problem:
I don't know if the handle is too long and heavy or the base is too small, but this pan has trouble balancing and tips over fairly easily.

This little pan works nicely to cook a bowl of Top Ramen, but I was disappointed that the bottom of the pan easily pits from the seasoning packet. Even in boiling water and stirring still got stains on the bottom of the inside of the pan. The instructions say salt can pit or discolor the pan without stirring and boiling water, and they sure aren't kidding.
